Job description

Bus Driver, Transit and a Team Leader.
Will drive a bus on the road and transport the farm workers on a planned/scheduled basis as is directed by the employer or supervisor. The driver may pick up workers from different housing sites or may pick up from different points to take them to assigned work site, transit between work sites, and then return the workers back to their housing site or pick up point at the end of the work day. They may make trips to grocery stores, laundromat, airport, and any governmental agencies, medical and dental offices as and when needed. They will direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting. Have to abide by precise instructions and any strict but necessary safety rules and policies. They have to inspect the vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure. Must maintain cleanliness of the bus. Must handle any passenger emergency or disruptions that might arise. Must be able to make small minor repairs to vehicle and change tires if needed. The employer assures that the driver will be paid the offered wage rate for the actual driving time, which includes but is not limited to trips to fuel
vehicle and or the time spent maintaining the vehicle. When they are not engaged in daily transportation duties, bus drivers will be directing and monitoring the work of casual and seasonal help during the planting and harvesting, and will report any issues to the farm manager or to the supervisor. The workers may be requested to submit at any given time to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or if test is positive may result in immediate termination. All the testing will occur post-hire and is not a part of the interview process. Negative result can be required post-hire and then before commencing work. They must be able to lift 50 lbs. The use of cell phone or any other personal electronic device while they are driving is strictly prohibited by law and violation may result in immediate termination. Commit to entire anticipated period of employment is a must. They must be properly licensed by a U.S. state or foreign equivalent with the passenger endorsement and the medical certificate to operate bus. They must be at least 23 years of age. Must obtain a DOT medical examiner’s certificate before they commence work. It requires 12 months CDL driving history. Workers will perform assign duties as instructed by their supervisor. The alternative work if needed will be to assist with general farm work such as manual hand labor of crops harvested. The worker in order to perform this kind of work must be able to work outside for at least 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather and be in possession of the requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the picking process rapidly, the employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker’s refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker’s willful damage or destruction of the tools.

Special Requirements

Will include prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Job is outdoors and continues in all types of weather.
Workers may be requested to submit to random drug / alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or a
positive test may result in immediate termination. All the testing will occur post-hire and not a part of the interview process. Negative
result may be required post-hire and before commencing work. Employee must be able to lift 75 lbs. to shoulder height repetitively
throughout the workday is able to lift and carry 75 lbs. in field. Must not hinder any other workers productivity. Use of personal cell
phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and
violation may result in immediate termination. Requires a 12 months verifiable prior work experience in the crop activities listed. Must
commit to work the entire contract period.
