Job description
Responsible for processing salmon roe to produce Ikura and Sujiko (Japanese salmon roe products) for export to Japan. Inspect and select salmon roe to use for production of Ikura and Sujiko. Provide technical expertise in each stage of production process such as sorting, salt preserving, brining, seasoning, mixing, agitating, dewatering, and refining salmon roe to produce Ikura and Sujiko. Inspect and pack Ikura and Sujiko according to grade and weight. Maintain and control quality, uniformity, market acceptance, and the highest price of products. Also, provide technical expertise in grading, quality control, and specification.
Special Requirements
Knowledge of processing and grading standards of salmon roe for the Japanese market. F.a.5 and 6: Will work 40 regular hours per week with up to 40 hours of overtime per week (every day, from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm, including overtime hours). Actual overtime hours and work schedules depend on fish availability. Regular pay is $20.06 - $32.00 per hour depending on experience (DOE), and overtime pay is $30.09 - $48.00 per hour (paid at time and a half). A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. Wages will be paid every 2 weeks. The employer will make all deductions from the workers paycheck required by law. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. Work will be performed at a plant in Sitka, Alaska.
