Job description
Combination role to include landscaping, tree groundsman and above ground tree trimming/pruning duties. Landscaping duties may include any combination of the following: cultivating lawns or gardens, planting, digging, irrigating, mowing, trimming, pruning, and fertilizing of growing plants and grasses, mulching, raking, seeding, sod laying, spraying, weeding and opening/filling shallow trenches for irrigation/watering systems. Use hand/power tools and equipment such as edgers, blowers and mowers to landscape and maintain grounds of property. Assist with sprinkler installation and maintenance (use hand shovel to dig trench approximately 6 inches wide and 12 inches deep, after lines are laid). Load/unload/move trees, shrubs, and landscape materials; remove debris; maintain, clean and repair equipment/tools when not in use. Using sophisticated climbing and rigging techniques, cut away dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs to maintain right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, or utilities, or to improve appearance, health, and value of tree. Prune or treat trees or shrubs using handsaws, hand pruners, clippers, and power pruners. Works off the ground in the tree canopy and may use truck-mounted lifts. May assist with tree trimming/pruning by cleaning up debris on ground using a woodchipper and chainsaw. Work is generally completed during the period specified for the requested workers.
Special Requirements
Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Post-hire upon suspicion of use and post-accident drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers. Additional post-hire background check and drug testing required of all new foreign and domestic workers if worker is driving a company vehicle (driving is not a requirement of all workers in the position). Post-hire background checks may also be required of foreign and domestic workers based on contract requirements. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
