Job description

Abbeys Cleaning, LLC needs 25 Seasonal Plant cleaners starting October 15, 2024, to June 15, 2025. Plant cleaners will clean, sanitize, and disinfect seafood processing plants throughout the oyster season. Duties: Wash and spray walls, ceilings, shucking tables, and scales. Clean, disinfect, and sanitize the oyster processing system, weighing stations, and 3-wax sinks. Clean empty coolers within the plant and refrigerator trucks before and after each shift. Remove and clean all traces of fluids on floors, walls, and ceilings. Clean, disinfect, and sanitize plant equipment, holding stations, walls, floors, and ceilings throughout the processing plant using large cleaning equipment, odorless and non-toxic cleaning agents, industrial mops, and industrial floor squeegees when cleaning smaller areas within the processing plant.

Workers will work 40 hours a week on a rotating schedule (Monday to Friday) 7 hours (Shifts: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM or 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM) and Saturday 5 hours (Shifts: 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to Midnight or Midnight to 6:00 AM; Paid Weekly; Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. All deductions from workers' paychecks required by law will be made. The wage that the employer intends to offer or will provide to the H-2B workers, non-commuting United States Domestic Workers, Citizens, and holders of visas that allow work in the U.S. or the event there are multiple wage offers (such as where an itinerary is authorized through special procedures for an employer) the range of applicable wage offers each of which be equal or exceed the highest of the prevailing wage of the Federal, State, or local minimum wage. The prevailing wage is the highest wage issued by the OFLC National Prevailing Wage Center on the collective bargaining agreement, occupational employment statistics survey, or private survey. The employer will provide all cleaning products, equipment, tools, and transportation to all workers from the central location (4889 West Main Street, Houma, LA 561720) or housing (202 North Main Project Rd, Schriever, LA 70395) to processing plants and return transportation from the plant to the central location or housing at no cost to workers. Public Transportation is available at the central location (4889 W. Main Street, Houma, LA 561720). The anticipated employment will last 120 days or more. Employer guarantees to offer work for a total number of hours equal to at least three-fourths of the total employment period. The employer will reimburse the H2B worker in the first workweek for all visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Transportation for H-2B Visa workers and non-commuting United States Workers, including meals and lodging to the extent necessary to the place of employment, will be provided, or its cost will be reimbursed within the first week of arrival. Upon completion of the work contract or when the worker is dismissed earlier, the employer will pay for the worker's reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to return home or where the worker initially departed. The employer will also pay reasonable transportation and subsistence costs to workers who will not return home due to subsequent employment with another employer. The employer will not pay for return transportation and subsistence to workers reported to have voluntarily abandoned employment. The transportation payment or reimbursement amount will equal the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily meals will be paid at a rate of at least $15.88 p/day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 p/day with receipts. The employer will have lodging available to workers for a monthly of $140.00 per month.

Special Requirements

Interested applicants must be 21 years of age. Must have 3 months work related experience. No education is required.
Workers must be willing to work in a cold and wet shellfish processing plant and stand to perform work duties.
Workers must be willing to work rotating schedules.
