Job description

Duties may include: Performs shipping/receiving functions which include but are not limited to the loading and unloading of vehicles, preparing cargo for shipment or storage. Moves plants or other items to different locations. Provides the general clean-up, preparation and maintenance of the facilities. Fills containers with soil, takes cuttings and starts plants. Dumps and cleans containers that will be re-used & other related Nursery Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).
1. Minimum Requirements:
a. Transplanting shall be performed to quality standards at a rate not less than 50-1204 flat equivalents or 80 baskets per hour worked. (1204 flat equivalent are also: 71-606 flats, 83–1801 flat, etc.)
b. Loading shall be performed to quality standards at a rate not less than four full cart equivalent loads per hour.
c. Dumping/Recycling flats shall be performed to quality standards at a rate not less than 75 flats or 100 baskets per hour

Possible weekend/holiday work.

Special Requirements

A 1-Month period of on-the-job training will be available to each worker. Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 50lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal. Variable weather conditions may apply. Cell Phone use during work hours (outside of employer-designated break periods) is strictly prohibited.
