Job description
Tissue culture potato plantlets. Prep tissue culture media and disposable containers. Prep greenhouse for planting plantlets and microtubers. Lay drip irrigation tubes and plumb feeder tubes into watering system. Pull leaf samples for testing. Harvest, grade, size tubers for seed storage. Replace greenhouse soil. Grade, ship, pack seed potatoes. Clean & disinfect all work areas. Crops: Seed potatoes
Laboratory Hygiene Requirements :
Good hygiene- freshly showered, clean clothes, no perfumes, no jewelry/watches.
Wash hands thoroughly.
Wear a provided laboratory apparel, mask, gloves, Pull back and/or tie hair up and secure with bonnet.
No food, beverages limited.
Minimal use of personal communication devices and only to be used for listening purposes via Bluetooth.
No clutter, clean work area.
Must be able to focus completely on laboratory task and be very detailed with all tasks.
Must be able to work well on your own, as a pair and a team.
Must be aware and knowledgeable about potential hazards while working in laboratory. Failure to follow work safety protocol may be reason for immediate termination.
Greenhouse Hygiene Requirements :
Good hygiene- freshly showered, clean clothes, no perfumes, no jewelry/watches.
Wash hands thoroughly.
Wear employer provided shoes which will always remain on site.
Food and drink are allowed with restrictions.
Limited use of personal communication devices and only to be used for listening purposes via Bluetooth.

Must be able to work well on your own, as a pair and a team.
Must be aware and knowledgeable about potential hazards. Failure to follow work safety protocol may be reason for immediate termination.
Visting area farms can be detrimental to the seed potato crop. All employees need to be aware of the risks associated with cross contamination that may potentially occur. This could result in a total loss of the disease-free seed potato crop for the entire year. Visiting other farms is not permitted during the normal work day. If a worker chooses to visit other farming operations, they need to adhere to the above hygiene requirements. Use of products containing nicotine, such as smoking, vaping, cigars, chewing tobacco, etc, is also detrimental to the crop and prohibited. The above may be reason for immediate termination.
Each worker will be evaluated 1 month post hire. At this time the employer and the employee will discuss the employee’s progress and if the employee is meeting the hourly and daily work standard. The employee was aware of this standard prior accepting the job offer. During this evaluation, the employee will be given the opportunity to ask questions, express concerns and clarify any unknowns about the job and their work contract.
Intimidation of coworkers at the worksite and/or at the employer provided housing is not allowed and will be treated as a serious offense and documented.
Special Requirements
Employment reference. Ability to reach 44 inches standing laterally at a table, possess quick hand-eye dexterity, detail oriented, ability to multi-task. Ability to speak/understand English. Must communicate in English while on the job to ensure clear communication between workers and Supervisors. Smoking, vaping, recreational drugs, and tobacco products (including chew) are prohibited. At the sole discretion of the employer, workers may be required to submit to a post hire drug test, paid by the employer. Positive results or refusal to take the test may result in immediate termination.
