The input materials are as follows: Raw excess fish material from the factory that is sent to the fishmeal plant in the form of bones, skin, guts etc. of the fish.
The processing steps are as follows: The fishmeal plant filters the material and cooks it down to produce a fine clumpy/flakey fishmeal product.
The final product is the fine clumpy/flakey fishmeal product.
The supervise startup and shutdown of Fishmeal Plant and overseeing the Fishmeal Processing Plant machinery is as follows: The plant needs to go through a startup phase when production starts. This means making sure the temperature levels and other aspects of the plant are appropriately calculated to ensure production. The plant also needs to be shut down after production, making sure it is cleaned out and that routine maintenance of the machinery is performed so that it is ready for the next production phase start up.
Operate and oversee the Fishmeal Processing Plant:
Sometimes the machinery breaks down or needs more than routine maintenance. The Fishmeal Tech is in charge of making sure that work gets done, either by themselves or in partnership with vendors and the Engine Room Department.
Must be able to communicate effectively with other Engine Room crewmembers".
The Engine Room Department oversees the Fishmeal Department, so the Fishmeal Tech needs to be able to communicate with the Engineers when there are mechanical issues with the fishmeal plant

Operate and oversee the Fishmeal Processing Plant to ensure optimum utilization. Adjust pump speeds and auger speeds to safeguard product quality. Perform moisture analysis tests on Fishmeal and report findings to the Engineers as appropriate. Survey the amount of raw material in silos to confirm correct flow into plant. Supervise startup and shut down of Fishmeal Plant machinery to ensure compliance. Perform or participate in emergency drills, as required.
Special Requirements
Standing for long periods of time / bending / crouching / kneeling / climbing stairs / lifting 50 lbs / cold weather / wet weather. Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob's ladder. Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero. Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests. Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time. Must be able to communicate effectively with other Engine Room crewmembers.
Days & Shifts may vary. Holidays, weekends, and evenings required as needed.
Workers will be paid the equivalent of $29.85/hour for every hour worked for a minimum of 40 hours each week. Earning may increase as the worker will earn a % of the value for each overall trip.
Employer reserves the right to pay a higher wage rate or bonus to any worker in their sole discretion based on performance, skill, tenure, or experience.
Employer is offering up to 44 hours of overtime per week as needed, but not guaranteed.
Up to the first 3 weeks of employment will include at least 40 hours of on the job training.
Employment and housing are onboard the M/V Golden Alaska vessel.
Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests required at employers expense.
A criminal background check will be required at the employer's expense.
Must be at least 18 years of age due to Coast Guard regulations.
Employee housing is available onboard the M/V Golden Alaska vessel at no cost to the employee.
