Job description
JOB FUNCTION:
The Chauffeur will drive a motor vehicle to transport employees between housing and work sites, for grocery shopping, personal appointments. Chauffeurs will also ensure vehicle maintenance and compliance with safety regulations.
JOB DUTIES:
- Transport employees between housing, work sites, grocery stores, and personal appointments using designated company-owned vehicles.
- Arrange regular pick-ups and drop-offs for groups of employees on a set schedule.
- Perform routine checks on vehicle condition (tires, brakes, lights, oil, fuel, etc.) and document to ensure safety.
- Work schedule includes working evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Communicate with site management to receive and relay requests for transportation services.
- Complete and submit accident reports to site safety representatives.
- Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations.
- Report vehicle malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations.
- Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance, such as tire pressure regulation and refueling.
- Record routes and operational details, including hours worked, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, both inside and outside.
- Duties may include but are not limited to: Moving and spacing flats/pots of plants and hanging baskets within or between greenhouses or field, using trailers, racks, conveyor belts and moving tables. Occasional weekend work, covering crops to protect from inclement weather as needed. Planting/transplanting plugs, young plants, and bulbs for growing into finish product. Select potted plants from greenhouses and field, place tags on product based on customer requirements to meet daily shipping schedule. Arrange selected product based on shipping orders, prep racks prior to order building, organize product on racks in load order, scan racks, check product quality, load, and unload trucks. Prune, pinch, weed and other activities specific to plant maintenance. Package online orders. Light computer work and data entry as needed. Other functions related to horticulture upkeep and paperwork. Operate vehicles, mechanized devices or equipment. Run, maneuver, navigate or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts. Operate passenger vehicles on occasion. Use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes. Facility upkeeping and basic equipment and installations maintenance. Work efficiently, safely and practice mutual respect. Schedules include evening and weekend work. Failure to comply with company policies, safety and equipment operation requirements may result in employment termination.
Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting. Direct and monitor the activities of work crews engaged in planting and weeding. Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Pesticide License is not a pre-hire job description.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
- Ability to operate company-provided tablets to track hours and create safety and maintenance reports.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and report issues promptly.
- Good communication skills to coordinate with site management and passengers.
- Professionalism in managing requests and providing safe, reliable transportation.
Pesticide attestation for Washington
The Employer Attests that these workers will be properly trained by their supervisor, who has a valid Private Applicator license, which is the standard pursuant to Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA). Furthermore, their supervisor will be available to ensure that workers understand all chemical label, safety instructions, and application instructions pursuant to WSDA.
Special Requirements
B.2) Worker must possess a valid driver's license, and 12 months of driving experience. In addition, must be able to read and write in English.
B.4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 50lbs. Worker must state he/she is physically able to perform the job requirements.
B.4f) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
B.4g) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, nursery containers, etc.
B.4h) May require worker to sit and/or walk for extensive periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, weeding, transporting, pruning, etc.
B.4i) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing nursery labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris, etc.
B.4j) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the nursery labor duties, for example picking, sorting, pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc.
