Job description
Worker will manually plant, transplant, weed, thin, cultivate, prune and harvest rice, beans, pumpkins, and watermelon crops. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, long handle hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, trimming and cut stalks/vines with sharp instruments such as knives and shears. Workers will walk fields on uneven ground and may operate tractors. In addition, workers may be required to perform variable tasks relating to crop production such as hauling, ground preparation, applying pesticides, field packing, and loading harvested products. May construct trellises, repair fences, equipment and farm buildings, cleaning and other tasks related to general farming. Workers may participate in irrigation activities such as water management and water drainage/ field prep and repair of equipment.
Worker must have 3 months experience in general farming, operating 100hp tractors or greater. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs and be able to communicate without line of sight.
Special Requirements
All deductions required by law will be made from the workers paycheck. Social security, federal and state (if applicable) taxes will only be deducted from foreign H-2A workers upon written request. All workers are subject to reasonable repair cost of damage for the repair/replacement of tools and or equipment and the reasonable cost of negligent damage to lodging facilities and vehicles if worker is shown to have caused the shortage or damage by a dishonest or willful act. This may be charged to worker after damage has occurred and upon employees written authorization to make the deduction. Workers who quit or are terminated for cause prior to completing 50% of the contract will be required to reimburse the employer for the full amounts of advanced and/or reimbursed transportation and subsistence.
