Job description
Duties may include: Plant, harvest, cut, sort, grade and box produce, gourds and Christmas trees. Workers will cultivate, weed and prune plants, trees and shrubs either manually, chemically or by machine, with hand tools or power tools to include tractors, skid steers and implements. Perform landscape maintenance using mowers, blowers and weed-eaters etc., maintain and repair fences, paint and repair buildings, equipment maintenance and small repairs, clean buildings, barns and animal pens. During husbandry and market season, workers will assist with feeding and watering sheep, goats, deer and chickens, vaccinating, applying medications and general care. Workers may assist in cleaning, loading and unloading crates of produce and orders in retail areas & other related Farm Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org). Possible weekend/holiday work. Shift times may vary based on weather, crop production, and pests or crop disease.
Special Requirements
Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 50lbs; may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified. Worker must have experience in grading produce and operating a 60hp+ tractor. Based on Employer's discretion/cost or if accident or incidents occur: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/refusal to abide = dismissal. Possible background check post hire at employer's expense.. Any theft, assault, public intoxication or greater convictions may be grounds for termination due to working with the public and being on a family-friendly work location.
