Job description

GREENHOUSE: After placing tag, worker will be required to lay out flats/pots/baskets and place onto carts/ground/racks/or hang baskets in an orderly manner to designated greenhouses in accordance with supervisor instructions. Worker must take care not to disturb, disrupt or spill the plants from the tray cells or other containers during transport to and from carts/racks/tables/ground. Worker will use ladder and hands or basket-lifter to place basket on hanger pipes as directed by supervisor. Worker will load and unload flats/pots/baskets of plants, according to same lot of plants onto carts or plant racks to be transported to loading facility/greenhouses/ground/tables as instructed by supervisor.

PUMPKINS: Worker will walk down rows and bend down and cut the stem of the pumpkin from the plant using a hand clipper leaving at least a 3” stem on the pumpkin according to grade, size, shape, color and degree of maturity. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt/mud off vegetables.
SQUASH: Worker will bend over, and hand harvest squash based on supervisor's recommendations for the size and length. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt/mud off vegetables.
ORNAMENTAL CORN: Worker will hand harvest and husk ornamental corn according to shape, color, and degree of maturity.

Special Requirements

Job requires worker to complete tasks in Planting, Sowing, Plant Maintenance, Greenhouse Production, and Filling Trays. Pumpkins, Squash, and Ornamental Corn.
Experience Requirement: 2 months verifiable experience in commercial planting and/or transplanting. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience.
Drug testing done at employers expense not utilized as pre-employment tool.
