Job description

***RFI Response Fiscal Year 2024***
Although the employer may hire more than one worker in this position, the employer intends the specific job duties/functions of the position to be able to be performed by a single person. More specifically, the position involves a combination of the duties of a housekeeper (O*NET Code: 37-2012), server (O*NET Code: 35-3031), and front desk clerk (O*NET Code: 43-4081). Due to the small size of the Norumbega Inn’s staff and budget, the employer needs a worker filling this position to be able to multi-task such that all the position’s duties/functions will be performed by a single worker in the position at various times during a given day or workweek. It is not fiscally feasible for the employer to hire separate workers to perform each of the tasks associated with the different occupational codes.

To further clarify, the varying duties of this position correspond to the three different occupational categories as follows:
o Housekeeping: Various duties as assigned, including cleaning and maintaining common areas/dishes, overnight guest rooms, grounds and bathrooms, changing/cleaning bed linens/towels, etc., vacuuming, removing trash, dusting, replacing shampoo/soap, etc., general cleaning/room assistance, waste disposal, delivering guest requests to rooms, etc.;
o Front desk clerk: Various duties as needed, including answering phones, greeting, registering, and assigning guests to rooms, issuing keys, handling luggage, processing payments, handling customer complaints and requests, and making and confirming reservations.
o Server: Various server duties as needed, including taking food and beverage orders, answering questions about the menu, carrying trays of food and drinks from the kitchen to the dining room, serving customers, preparing checks and taking payment from customers, removing dirty dishes and cleaning tables, setting up dining areas, refilling condiments and stocking service areas, with other related duties.

***Original F.a.2 Fiscal Year 2024***

Special Requirements

Note regarding F.a.5A-H, F.a.6a.-6b.:A typical work week consists of 35 hours per week or more. (Note: The total number of 56 hours per week indicated above is misleading, due to the entry of 8 hours for each day of the week into the form, which is necessary because, with shifts typically lasting up to 8 hours, and variations in days off, workers may end up working on any day of the week and there is no specific day when a worker is guaranteed not to work. This position is for 35 or more (35+) hours per week as indicated in the job order). Shifts available/assigned: Monday-Sunday (2 days off, varies) shifts start as early as 6:00 a.m. and end as late as 11:00 p.m. (multiple shifts available, varies), typical shifts 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Did you know that... H-2A workers do not have a right to get paid for overtime work, or “time and a half?”
