Job description
The prep cook (also known as a food preparation worker) is an individual who assists the chef in preparing the food, maintains the cooking environment to be clean and safe for all staff members, and takes on culinary tasks as they arise. Prepares a variety of foods, such as meats, vegetables, or desserts, according to customers' orders or supervisors' instructions, following approved procedures, cleaning dishes, utensils, and silverware. The job requires physical endurance as well as mental determination and involves working in stressful conditions for most of the time. The work schedule can be hectic, requiring working during holidays, nights and early mornings.
Special Requirements
Requires three months of food line prep experience. Work schedule is at least 5 days/week with shifts varying by day and work days varying by week to include Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Shifts may include: 9AM-4:30PM, 6AM-1:30PM, 7AM-2:30PM or 4PM-close. Employer-paid drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers prior to commencing work and post-hire at random, upon suspicion of use, and post-accident. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions.
