Job description

All applicants must be able, willing, and qualified to perform the work described in this job description to the standards of Maple Wind Farm and must be available for the entire period of employment specified in box 3 & 4 page 1. Workers will perform any combination of the following tasks daily: Maple Wind Farm is an open range operation which has a temporary need for workers during the slaughtering and processing season. The occupation is not year-round because the employer's need is temporary. The workers will assist in feeding, cleaning, and raising the poultry for slaughter. Workers will perform all facets of poultry raising and cleaning, slaughtering, and dressing of fowl in preparation for market. Workers will clean to USDA specifications any and all rooms, equipment to include blood pans, rendering barrels, ice barrels, floors, toilet and walls. Work requires long periods of standing and bending and kneeling. Workers must be able to lift and carry boxes and barrels weighing up to 80 pounds. Workers will catch and move fowl to area for processing, hang live poultry in shackles, and perform bleed out operations. Additionally, workers will perform knife cuts, remove, separate & prepare viscera, use packaging machines, apply labels, and record weights, as well as feed the poultry, construct pens and clean barns and the feeding and drinking equipment. Workers will maintain the grounds on the farm to comply with good agricultural practices (including grass and brush control). Workers may perform other farm-related duties as the need arises. Workers may operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmer's fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as-needed basis. Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess a valid driver’s license; no worker will be rejected for not having a driver's license. The employer will provide 1 day of training and allow 2 days of work for the workers to satisfactorily perform duties described in this job description. Employers will furnish all tools and equipment required at no cost to workers. Workers must be willing to work in varied outdoor weather conditions. Workers must be available to work 10-hour shifts within the hours of 7:00am - 7:00pm from Monday through Friday. Daily or weekly work schedules may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, farm conditions, and other factors. Employers will notify workers of any change to the schedule. Workers will be given at least 30-minute lunch break which is staggered between 11am - 1pm as decided by the workers. Workers may choose where to eat their lunch and return to work after their 30 minutes are up. Workers will also receive a 15-minute break in the morning and a 15-minute break in the afternoon as agreed upon by the worker and management. Workers must be able to take directions in simple English and work accordingly with both managers and owners.

3) workers will all be made available to attend a 2-hour paid training on their rights and resources while working in the U.S.
4) responsible recruitment methods, including recruiting U.S. based workers first, followed by recruitment by government Ministries that are registered with the government in the country (if they exist), or a letter articulating their recruitment practices, if they used a private recruiter.
