Job description

Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, spray, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment that utilizes GPS and auto-guidance systems, sprayers, combines, cotton pickers, mowers, and tow motors. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Job requires participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, walking length of irrigation pipe to puncture it at set intervals, setting up and operating irrigation equipment, clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches, operating well motors, operating and maintaining pivots, draining excess water from fields, and monitoring fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; rouging fields and using hand tools to remove undesirable plant varieties, trash, and other objects from fields; welding; performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; and emptying grain dumps. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Special Requirements

Job requires having, or being able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Criminal background checks and random drug testing may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. The employer may terminate the worker (foreign or domestic) if the employees fails a drug test or if the employer discovers a criminal conviction record of assault or theft or status as a registered sex offender that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers. Work will be performed outdoors during times when temperatures could exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
