Job description
Shuttle driver will drive bus to pick up workers, take them to worksite, field walk and drive workers back to their housing. They will also conduct simple daily vehicle maintenance checks (DOT pre-trip inspections), fill water jugs with drinking water for the workers each morning and throughout the day as needed, and ensure field sanitation measures are maintained throughout the day (such as helping move water jugs and porta potties as workers move around in the field). They will also safely operate farm equipment in the field such as field trucks, tractors and forklifts. Duties will include tying loads of tomatoes, untying loads, unloading full bins of crop, loading empty bins, returning them to the field and washing the farm equipment. They may also include dumping tomatoes and other general farm labor or relevant duties as directed by farm operator. This work will be done under extreme weather conditions such as heat and direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as heavy bending, stooping and lifting will be involved on a regular basis. Drivers are responsible for keeping the bus clean. They are required to take workers once a week to cash checks and to the food store. Must have or be able to obtain immediately a farm labor contractor license. Background check and random drug testing will be post-hire at employer's expense.
Special Requirements
Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by supervisors and practice safety in all aspects of work. The employer is a drug-free workplace and has a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol in the workplace and in the employer-provided housing. Background check and random drug testing will be conducted post-hire at employer's expense. Drug testing may be done post-accident and for cases with valid reasons for suspicion.
