Job description
Perform variety of attending duties at traveling carnival food concession, such as setting up, tearing down, and operating mobile food concessions by taking orders and serving food and beverages.
Details of tasks that may be involved in this position: May communicate with customers regarding orders; scrub counter, steam tables, and other equipment and clean fountain equipment; accept payment from customers and make change as necessary; perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping and washing serving devices, to keep equipment and facilities sanitary; serve3 food, b3everages, or desserts to customers attending fair or festival; prepare daily food items, and cook simple foods and beverages; wrap menu items for service; set up dining areas; and prepare and serve cold drinks or desserts, using dispensing machines.
The employer has a variety of food items that they provide; typical preparation and equipment used are as follows:
Sausage, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers. All of the meats come prepackaged. The vegetables that are grilled with the items typically come fresh. These items will be washed in the sink, then placed onto a chopping board and cut into pieces using a knife and then placed into containers pending being grilled.
The meat items would be placed on a grill to cook, using tongs to place them onto the grill and a spatula to turn them or move them around the grill. During the shift the worker would use a griddle scraper to remove any built up residue. Funnel Cakes, Deep Fried Oreos. All of these items would be cooked in deep fryers to prevent cross contamination.
Funnel Cake: A portion of the batter would be taken from the container into the pourer. The batter would be poured slowly into the basket to form a funnel cake. The worker might concurrently be pouring more batter into the other basket. When one side of the funnel cake is brown, with a lotted spook it will flip the half cooked funnel cake. When the item is cooked the worker will use the same slotted spoon to pick the funnel cake from the fryer and place it into a tray.
Deep Fried Oreos: A portion of the batter would be taken from the container mix into a smaller dipping container. Individual Oreos would be pick up with gloved hand, dipped/coated with the batter and then dropped into one basket of the fryer. The contents of the fry basked would be dumped into a tray.
The employer would position the food concessions trailer in the assigned location at the event.
During transit, metal awnings cover the glass windows.
The worker would unlatch the locks, using their hands. The gas struts would raise the awnings to the correct height automatically.
As items would shift during transit, the worker would carefully open the door, observe if everything was in the correct position, and if not, slide whatever was out of passion back into the correct location.
Front counter, cash register, counter cloth/banner, trash cans, condiment, cutlery and napkin kiosk(s) would be unloaded by hand and placed into the correct locations. Each item is designed for travel and easy setup, with nothing weighing more than about 20 pounds.
