Job description

Pedernales Cellars is one of the premier wine producers in Texas. The winery in Stonewall, Texas, produces a range of award-winning red and white wines. Our winery sources 25+ tons of fruit annually from its 16-acre estate. The Assistant Vineyard Manager will support daily tasks, including drip line maintenance, mowing, spraying, pruning, shoot tucking, equipment maintenance, netting, and harvest logistics. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Essential Functions:
Help manage all vineyard/crop management aspects – crop yield estimates, trellis maintenance, pruning, tying, soil health, floor and canopy management, pest control, crop thinning, and harvest management.
Search out and evaluate vineyard problems and make recommendations that provide effective, timely, and economic solutions that deliver quality fruit.
Monitor crops for insect and disease pressure and work with the Vineyard Manager to implement fungicide and pesticide programs.
Assist in requisitioning, operating and maintaining all tools, equipment and vehicles.
Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations that are vineyard-specific.
Assist with the maintenance, repair, and calibration of all equipment used in the field.
Maintain vineyard cleanliness, including the shop and grounds surrounding the vineyard.
Take on special projects as assigned by the Vineyard Manager.
Participate in continuing education and industry events to stay current on trends, regulations, and community issues

Equipment used to perform job duties include, but not limited to clippers, hoe, spade, pliers, wrench, screwdriver, cutting knife, gloves, tractor, hand truck, tiller, trailer, forklift, lawn mower, etc. All equipment and tools used in the performance of row crops and vineyard duties are provided by employer.

Special Requirements

Work Rules: Work Rules 1. The Employer will reimburse the Worker for inbound travel, sustenance, & other DOL-allowable expenses only upon the Worker's completion of 50% of the contract. 2. Workers must perform their assigned tasks carefully & in accordance with the
provisions of the work contract. Sloppy work will not be tolerated. 3. Workers must report at the assigned time and place each
workday as directed by the Employer or representatives of the Employer. 4. Workers may not take unauthorized breaks from work.
Should the Worker need a break, they will immediately contact the Employer or the Employer's representative. 5. Workers may not
leave an assigned work area without the Employer or Employer's representative's permission. 6. Workers may not enter the
Employer's premises without prior authorization. 7. Workers may not begin work before the scheduled starting time or continue
working after the stopping time unless authorized to do so by the Employer/Employer's representative
