Job description

Performs any of the following tasks to attend to livestock: Maintain heated watering system and operating snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Mix feed and additives, fill feed troughs with feed and water for livestock and remove ice formed in water. Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries. Vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed using syringes and hypodermic needles. Apply medications to cuts and bruises, spray livestock with insecticide. Confine livestock in stalls washes and clip them to prepare them for calving and assist veterinarian in delivery of offspring. Bind or clamp testes or surgically remove testes to castrate livestock. Clip identifying notches or symbols on animal, or brand animal, using branding iron, to indicate ownership. Clean livestock stalls and sheds, using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels. Maintain buildings and equipment. Maintain breeding, feeding and costs records.Livestock: Beef Cattle

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employers discretion.
