Job description

Farm Equipment Operator: During field operations, workers will be required to operate tractors and other farm equipment as a part of routine crop production. Prior to being assigned to operate any machinery, workers will receive training on the safe and proper use of tractors and related equipment. Workers must immediately report any mechanical issues to a supervisor.
All equipment must be operated in accordance with provided instructions and in a manner that ensures the safety of the operator, fellow workers, crops, trees, and equipment. Repeated failure to follow operational or safety guidelines may result in termination.
Before moving any assigned tractor in the field, operators are required to complete a pre-operation inspection, including checking engine fluids, changing oil, inspecting brakes and tires, and cleaning filters. Operators will not haul crops off the farm. At the end of each shift, operators must clean the tractor and ensure it is ready for the next user.
Workers will also be responsible for operating and maintaining farm machinery, vehicles, and other equipment. Training on safe operation will be provided prior to use. Workers are expected to operate equipment independently or with guidance while ensuring the safety of themselves, others, and the equipment. Non-compliance with safety protocols or operational guidelines may lead to disciplinary action, including possible termination.
It is critical that workers follow all instructions carefully. Damage caused by negligence or intentional misuse may be charged to the responsible worker.
Routine maintenance is part of the job and may include inspecting machinery, engines, and motors for defects, disassembling faulty components, and repairing or replacing parts using appropriate hand and shop tools.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required. Workers are expected to report to work wearing durable work clothing and boots. Those dressed inappropriately for farm tasks will not be permitted to begin work.
Some duties may require teamwork. In such cases, workers are expected to communicate and collaborate effectively to complete the assigned tasks efficiently and safely.
All tasks will be carried out under the direction and close supervision of the farm owner, supervisor, or a designated employee. Workers must perform duties promptly and proficiently, with regular monitoring to ensure compliance with instructions and quality standards.
Additional labor: Workers will be involved in land preparation, assist in planting, applying fertilizer, irrigating, cultivating the crops.
General Clean-up of Worksite Property and Housing for Harvesting Workers: Workers on physical work restrictions or when harvesting work is not available may be required to perform miscellaneous clean-up work on worksite property, on structures utilized in the operation, and on housing for harvesting workers. Such clean-up activities include debris, weed, and vine removal; irrigation repair; ditch digging; housing and structure cleaning and repair; and general worksite clean-up as required. Workers will be paid the highest of the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing wage rate, or the applicable minimum wage rate for time spent performing such clean-up work.

Special Requirements

Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to post hire and random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
