Job description
6:30am to 3:30pm Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour lunch; During grinding, workers will work 7 days per week or 50 hours, with a 1-hour lunch. Operate trucks to haul sugarcane from farm to mill. Inspect cargo to ensure it is
properly loaded and/or secured. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, performing minor repairs, or washing trucks. Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Repair and maintain vehicles, implements, mechanical equipment, tires and trucks. Requires a commercial drivers license. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat to extreme cold. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce the workers guarantee over the life of the contract. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract.
Special Requirements
Housing is provided to workers who cannot return to their residence at the end of each workday.
Levert-St. John Farms, Inc. administers a post-hire criminal background check as part of fitness for duty at employer's expense.
Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment.
