Temporary Seasonal Position: Nursery worker | SOC Code: 45-2092
All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described & must be available for entire period.
Gerten Greenhouses & Garden Center, Inc., Inver Grove Heights, MN, Dakota County
Possible shift: 8:00AM-5:00PM. 40-50+ May be possibility of weekend work. Crops: Nursery and Greenhouse stock. Duties may include: Work in nursery and greenhouse production environments preparing nursey and green house stock (trees, shrubs, annuals, & perennials). Duties to include planting, seeding, propagation, cultivating, watering, spacing, filling containers, pruning, chemical application & general maintenance of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals including environmental control. Maintain production records, drive tractors, tugs, or trucks to rotate plants to/from nursery or greenhouse production areas. Maintain all areas involved in the production of product including potting machine maintenance, cover/uncover nursery/greenhouse stock during inclement weather. Loading and unloading nursery and greenhouse stock, assisting in shipping of nursery and greenhouse stock plants & other related Nursery worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org). Must have 3 months Nursery and Greenhouse Worker exp. Use of static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 60lbs (possible 2-person); may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. Tools supplies and equipment provided at no cost to worker. Employer guarantees 3/4 of contract. Work outdoors, exposed to weather, hot or cold; hours may vary (+/-); possible downtimes and/or extended hrs. Dependable and must be able to fulfill obligations. Attention to detail to complete work tasks. Employer provided housing available to those who cannot reasonably return to their residence within the same day. Cell phone use allowable during designated breaks.
Must be able to obtain a drivers license within 2 months of employment. Must be 18 years of age. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Based on Employer's discretion/cost: Worker may have random drug/alcohol testing during employment: positive test/ refusal to abide = dismissal. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show legal authorization to work in the United States. Cash advances may apply at employer discretion.
