Bartow, GA 30413
United States
Job description
This position involves assisting with land clearing and recovery operations on a farm following hurricane-related damage. Employees will be responsible for removing storm debris such as fallen trees, branches, and other obstructions from fields, pastures, access roads, and around farm structures. Tasks include operating chainsaws, skid steers, tractors, and other heavy equipment to cut, lift, haul, and dispose of debris safely and efficiently. Workers must assess storm-affected areas to identify hazards such as unstable trees, downed power lines, or compromised structures, and take appropriate safety precautions before beginning work. In addition to clearing physical debris, employees may assist in regrading damaged land and restoring access routes to ensure the property is functional for daily farming operations. The role requires working outdoors in challenging conditions, often in mud, heat, or high humidity, and may involve long hours depending on the extent of the damage. This is a physically demanding job that includes lifting heavy materials, operating machinery, and performing manual labor. All work must be conducted with strict attention to safety procedures and environmental considerations to prevent further damage to the land or injury to workers.
Special Requirements
Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure safe housing and work environments for all workers. Positive drug test results or refusal to comply with testing may result in termination of employment. If the employer discovers a criminal conviction record or status as a registered sex offender that the employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers, the employer may terminate the worker (foreign and/or domestic) with notification to OFLC and DHS in accordance with 20 CFR 655.122(n).
