Job description

Crops/Commodities:
Farm and Orchard Work: oats, sorghum, grasses, pears, plums, persimmons, apples and pecans..

Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Perform manual labor to prepare and maintain fields and orchards, plant, cultivate and harvest (100%) oats, sorghum, grasses and fruit and nut trees. Harvest fruits such as pears, plums, persimmons and apples and pick up pecans. Perform orchard maintenance including properly pruning and trimming various fruit and nut trees. Field maintenance and preparation that includes cutting and digging trees, pulling brush, brush control, loading and unloading plant debris, cutting and peeling cedar posts, digging post holes and setting posts. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and machetes. Participate in irrigation activities, including setting up and operating irrigation equipment, cleaning and upkeep of irrigation ditches and piping.
Secondary duties (performed on less than half of the workdays in the contract period): Workers are also responsible for farm and field sanitation including picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm and field sanitation duties. Assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Repair and upkeep of farm vehicles, implements and mechanical equipment. Create trellises, restoration and upkeep of fences and farm buildings.

Raises and/or bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker employed pursuant to this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure.

Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer.

Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break.

TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property. In assessing whether workers' performance meets reasonable expectations, employer evaluates, among other reasonable criteria, whether the worker: (1) has adequately complied with the Work Rules and any other policies or procedures; (2) has complied with all health and safety guidelines, including the use of tools or equipment in accordance with best practices to protect the employer's property, crops, and in a manner that avoids injury or damage; (3) has treated company property (tools, equipment, crops, fixtures, etc.), with care and respect, avoiding damage or improper cleanliness or maintenance standards; (4) has timely and consistently followed instructions duly communicated by supervisors, crew leaders, and management personnel; (5) has complied with the employer's quality control standards for ensuring a marketable product;

Special Requirements

Workers will be required to repetitively bend, carry, cut, and haul plant debris. Lift up to 50 lbs., climb 20 ladders and prune overhead. Walk and stoop for extensive periods of time. Perform work in extreme temperatures ranging from 20 to 100+ degrees. Employer is a drug free workplace. Drug and alcohol testing may be conducted post-hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. The employer does not employ persons convicted of sex related crimes, violent crimes, or drug related crimes except under extremely limited circumstances. Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration at the request of the applicant. Background checks are conducted at the employer's discretion.
