Job description
Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate equipment including irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest grain and forage crops; Load agricultural products into trucks without over or underfilling bed or trailer, and drive to market or storage facilities; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Maintain inventory by procuring parts and ordering parts; Attend to live farm animals including cattle by calving cows and heifers, moving cows to forest service allotments, weaning calves, sorting cattle for market; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Weigh containers and record weights and identifying information; Position boxes/bags at ends of machinery to catch products, remove and close full containers.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain an appropriate non-CDL driver's license following hire and maintain a clean driving record, defined as a driving record with no DUI/DWI convictions, no license suspensions or revocations, and no more than two moving violations within the past three years. Be able to lift up to 75lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
