Job description

Duties may include: Daily tasks are, but not limited to; planting plants on our automated planting line or by hand, hand-watering, weeding, deadheading, pulling landscape, contractor, and garden center orders, keeping detailed records when planting, shipping, and pulling orders, and loading/unloading of plant product and other greenhouse goods. May be offered the following benefits: employee discount which includes up to 30% off plant materials, retirement plan through a 401k (Sargent’s offers a match up to 4%), Health Insurance options for Eligible Employee and Families (Sargent’s pays for 75% of employee monthly cost) This position also requires being able to work in a variety of weather conditions. To be successful, you must be physically capable of bending, twisting, being on your feet for long hours, and able to lift at least 25 lbs. repeatedly and 75 lbs. occasionally. You also may be asked to assist in other departments, such as garden center, field work with trees, or ornamental potted trees and shrubs (Woody Plants) & other related Nursery Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).

Special Requirements

Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Static strength; exert max muscle force to lift, push, pull, unload, carry objects up to 75lbs (possible 2-person); may climb, walk, stand, reach, balance, sit, stoop, bend, squat, wash, clean: equip, grounds, area. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified. Variable weather conditions may apply. Bonus potential based on work performance at the sole discretion of the employer. Employees are expected to keep employer-provided vehicles clean and free of trash. Workers may not post or remove notices, signs, or other instructions from the employers bulletin boards or the employers property without specific authorization from the employer. Only workers may live in employer-provided housing unless other arrangements... see addendum C
