Job description

FARM EQUIPMENT OPERATOR:
Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: operate farm equipment, including forklifts, tractors, mowers, harvesters, cherry shakers, boom sprayer, air-blast sprayer, hay rake, hay baler, cultivator, box shuttles, and vehicles to complete farm tasks; load, haul, and unload crops to storage locations within Oceana and Mason counties with all locations allowing workers to reasonably return within same workday; perform routine general repairs and maintenance of farm equipment; drive Employer-provided vehicle to and from the worksite; wash, sanitize, build and repair harvesting bins; install or repair drain tile, irrigation systems, and trellis; turn on/off irrigation lines; lay mylar; maintain grounds, landscaping, fences, and farm buildings; prune, thin and graft fruit trees; plant fruit trees; plant and weed pumpkins; assist with additional duties related to crop planting, care and harvest.

Other duties assigned under this order will be consistent under Bureau of Labor Statistics Standard Occupational Classification: Agricultural Equipment Operators (45–2091)

Special Requirements

Experience Requirement: 2 month(s) verifiable experience in commercial agriculture equipment operation of minimum 80 horsepower required. Applicants must furnish job references from employers of the last 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in agriculture equipment operation and general farm labor of apples, asparagus, sweet and tart cherries; hay, pumpkins and peaches. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.

Season Commitment: Job offered requires worker be available for work for entire employment period.

Work Rule Violations: Worker may be disciplined and/or terminated for cause for violating work rules provided at orientation.

Drug testing done at employers expense and not utilized as pre-employment tool.
