Job description

This application encompasses: general farm labor for onions, wheat, corn, beans, carrot seed, onions, and pastures.

This is a skill level II position, and the job requires a minimum of 3 months of general farm labor and agricultural equipment operation including vehicles that do not require a CDL. Workers will be required to work independently with minimal supervision once daily tasks are given.

The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds.

General Farm Work will include the following duties:
1. Maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements, tractors, equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops, also occasionally operating equipment like forklifts
2. Make mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery
3. May mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) Workers may need to identify weeds, measure chemicals, and be able to operate spray equipment including spray backpack or atv’s.
4. Remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds (weeding)
5. Remove rocks from fields, edges fields, concrete ditches, etc.
6. Build, maintain, repair, farm structures
7. Replace, repair fencing
8. Perform general clean-up of farm areas
9. Drive, unload/load crops with non-CDL, farm exempt 10-wheelers and semi-trucks
10. Handling and sorting of produce throughout harvest (be able to stand long hours on harvest equipment and sort crop with foreign material)
11. Operate motor bike, all-terrain vehicle (ATV’s), John Deere Gators, while performing job duties
12. Workers may attend food safety trainings
13. Digging ditch abd corrugates. Must be able to use a shovel continuously for an extended period of time.
14. Set gopher traps and identify gopher mounds

Special Requirements

The employer agrees that it will offer, advertise in its recruitment, and pay at least the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), the prevailing hourly wage rate, the prevailing piece rate, the agreed-upon collective bargaining rate, or the Federal or State minimum wage rate, in effect at the time work is performed, whichever is highest.
The employer may pay a higher hourly rate based on tenured performance and the Employer may, at its discretion, pay higher hourly rates for workers performing specialized duties. These higher rates will be based on individual factors including demonstrated skill/knowledge after hire, demonstrated experience after hire, certifications, and performance, and will be offered to all qualified H-2A and corresponding U.S. workers on the same terms. Such payments do not change the primary job classification or required experience level.
