Job description
This application encompasses irrigation and general farm labor on a mint, corn, and sugar beet farm. .
This is a skill level II position and workers must have at least 3 months general farm/agricultural experience as workers will be required to work with minimal supervision once job tasks are assigned each day.
The lifting requirement for this position is 60 pounds.
All other duties assigned under this order will be both those duties of Agricultural Equipment Operator and Farm Worker and Laborer Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse, under the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment Statistics Standard Occupational Classification Codes 45-2092 and 45-2091
Specific Job Requirements:
Irrigation Duties:
Hand Lines
1. Connect pipes
2. Check the alignment of pipe and adjust for proper water distribution
3. Attach lines to water supply
4. Prime/Turn on pump
5. Turn valves to start flow of water
6. Disassemble lines and carry pipes across fields at specified intervals
7. Move pipes through freshly irrigated crop and/or plowed fields where mud may be deep at times
8. Lift and carry pipe sections weighing approximately 60 pounds on a sustained basis
Special Requirements
The employer agrees that it will offer, advertise in its recruitment, and pay at least the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), the prevailing hourly wage rate, the prevailing piece rate, the agreed-upon collective bargaining rate, or the Federal or State minimum wage rate, in effect at the time work is performed, whichever is highest.
The employer may pay a higher hourly rate based on tenured performance, the Employer may, at its discretion, pay higher hourly rates for workers performing specialized duties. If approved, these higher rates will be based on individual factors including demonstrated skill/knowledge after hire, demonstrated experience after hire, certifications, and performance, and will be offered to all qualified H-2A and corresponding U.S. workers on the same terms. Such payments do not change the primary job classification or required experience level.
