Job description

Workers will prune, plant, cultivate, irrigate, fertilize, harvest, and sort our crops while working outside in all types of weather. Must be able to pick fruit with a 3% or less bruise rate. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears and knives. Duties may include tilling soil and applying fertilizers, removing and applying row covers, transplanting, weeding, thinning or pruning crops; cleaning, packing and loading harvest include everything from apples, peaches, pears and other stone fruit, to strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, pumpkins and other varietal squash products. May construct trellises, repair fences and farm buildings, participate in irrigation activities and other farm related activities as needed.
Must be able to work outdoors in dusty and dirty conditions, in extremes of heat and cold, and in inclement weather. Must be able to crouch, bend, and sit on the ground, carry and lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to listen to, understand and follow simple instructions of field operations leaders and supervisors. This job requires three months (or 480 hours) of verifiable prior experience. The employer will comply with re-entry restrictions applicable to pesticides and other chemicals used in the fields.
The employer, at no cost, will provide any tools or equipment necessary to perform required tasks to the worker. Tasks will be related to a diverse variety of fruit and vegetable crops. All work must be performed carefully according to instructions to avoid damage or harm to crops.
Workers may not report for work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The possession or use of illegal drugs or alcohol(exception is made for moderate alcohol consumption in company housing during non-working hours) on company property is prohibited and will be cause for termination.

Special Requirements

During busy planting/harvest season, workers may be requested to start earlier and work more than the scheduled 40 hrs per week, including holidays. When weather is hot, start and end times may be shifted to earlier or late in the day depending on crop and weather conditions.
Pay rate, raises and/or bonuses, greater than the wage rate listed, may be offered to any seasonal worker employed pursuant to this job order, at the company's sole discretion, based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Employer retains the right to discharge an obviously unqualified worker, malingerer or recalcitrant worker who is physically able but does not demonstrate the willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, violates employers work rules (provided to workers prior to commencement of work) or for any other lawful reason. All terms and conditions of the job order will apply equally to all workers (US and H-2A).
