Job description
Operate trucks or other multi-purpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (whether on or off farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach farmers’ fields and/or transport workers to the grocery store, or bank on an as-needed basis). Load and unload
agricultural products into and out of trucks, and drive trucks for market delivery and/or storage facilities. Not all workers are requested to drive; drivers will be required to possess a valid operator’s license. No one will be rejected for the position that does not possess an operator’s license. May drive and operate farm trucks and tractors. Manually seed, plant, transplant, cultivate, irrigate, & harvest by hand and machine agricultural commodity including but not limited to Vegetables, Herbs, Lettuce, Carrots, onions, Corn, Leeks, Cabbage, Spinach, onions, cilantro, herb, forage crops, vegetables, and other produce. Duties include yard clean-up and maintenance, field preparation by tilling soil, applying fertilizers, applying spray, mulching, applying & removing plastic, field drainage, stripping & drying, transplanting, weeding, thinning and pruning in the fields and/or greenhouses. Use hand tools including but not limited to clippers, hammer, shovels, and knives. Repair, maintain, clean, sanitize farm vehicles, tractors and implements and equipment, and buildings used in processing produce. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Construct and repair pallets, boxes and storage containers. Sort, dump, grade, clean, pack, load and unload produce. Lift, move, and place pallets. Work requires standing, sitting, kneeling and lifting up to 75lbs. on a consistent basis
throughout the day. While working in the field cell phone usage is limited to emergency use onlyEmployers may conduct/require random illegal drug or alcohol tests at employer’s expense after hiring, for the safety of themselves and others.
The Employer maintains a zero-tolerance policy for all employees regarding the use of illegal drugs and the abuse of alcohol and prescription drugs. Employees are prohibited from reporting to work impaired by any substance, legal or illicit, that affects their ability to perform their job duties safely and effectively. A positive drug test or a violation of this policy will lead to immediate corrective action, which may include termination Due to health & safety concerns on our farm workers must understand basic instruction in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in his order. Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated ours to be worked. These hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor and/or productivity. Special Requirements
The employer will not guarantee to pay the workers a bonus but reserves the right, at the employers sole discretion, to offer a bonus or to pay an hourly wage rate in excess of the highest applicable rate stated above based on longevity of tenure or exceptional job performance.
The employer reserves the right, at the employer's sole discretion, to temporarily raise the above listed piece rate due to crop conditions and/or change piece rate and the count per box due to unpredictable market requests. In the tasks where there is no prevailing practice to pay a piece rate, the employer, at his sole discretion, may opt to pay per hour to ensure a good quality product. The employer at his sole discretion can opt to pay a worker an hourly wage vs piece rate based on the worker's performance.
