Job description
The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period will be related to general farm work, irrigation of pastures on a farming and ranching operation.
This is a SKILL LEVEL II position as it requires at least 3 months of experience with agricultural equipment operation, irrigation and general farm labor. Workers will be required to work independently and with minimal supervision after given work tasks for the day.
The lifting requirement for this position is 50 pounds.
Wheel Lines
1. Start gasoline engines and operate controls to move lines across fields at specified intervals
2. Hook up wheel lines to water supply
3. Move wheel lines when needed
4. Fix and repair broken wheel lines so that they are in an operational manner
5. Fix and repair any water leaks on wheel lines so that they are in a operational manner
Pivot Irrigation
1. Push on switch that activates circle sprinkler system
2. Turn on/off pivots
3. Learn and master operating a pivot
4. If a pivot is stuck, get it unstuck and in operating condition
5. Roll up/unroll pivot hoses
6. Unplug plugged up nozzles
7. Unplug plugged up hoses
8. Replace broken nozzles and hoses
9. Maintain operation of a pivot at optimum level
Special Requirements
The employer agrees that it will offer, advertise in its recruitment, and pay at least the Adverse Effect Wage Rate (AEWR), the prevailing hourly wage rate, the prevailing piece rate, the agreed-upon collective bargaining rate, or the Federal or State minimum wage rate, in effect at the time work is performed, whichever is highest. The employer may pay a higher hourly rate based on tenured performance, the Employer may, at its discretion, pay higher hourly rates for workers performing specialized duties. These higher rates will be based on individual factors including demonstrated skill/knowledge after hire, demonstrated experience after hire, certifications, and performance, and will be offered to all qualified H-2A and corresponding U.S. workers on the same terms. Such payments do not change the primary job classification or required experience level.
