Job description

Perform a variety of attending duties at amusement facility (traveling carnival novelty concessions). Sell and collect tickets/fees, assist patrons; erect, take down, operate/attend amusement booths and maintain equipment and games; operate cash and credit card machine for carnival goers to play games. Maintain inventories of equipment, storing/retrieving items and assembling/disassembling equipment as necessary. Monitor activities to ensure adherence to rules and safety procedures. Following simple specified instructions replenish booth with toys. Using basic cleaning supplies such as Dawn, Windex, Mr. Clean, and following proper safety precautions and sanitary measures ensure all items are cleaned and stored in a specified safe manner for transportation. Setup and take down tools include ladder, hammers, screw drivers. All required tools are provided. Attend and Maintain equipment by following simple specified instructions for each piece of equipment utilized, Report to maintenance personnel for repair or replacement. Heavy lifting & physically mobile, operate novelty concessions.

Hours, schedule and days vary - sample shift time: 10am-7pm, 1-hour unpaid break; 35-40hrs./wk. extra hours may be required or available, may include weekends and holidays. Work needs (i.e., hours, days, schedule, location, and work positions) vary. Work needs subject to industry practice and are not guaranteed per day, per week, per schedule, per location, or per worker, e.g., rainouts, brief periods without scheduled events, event dates and hours set by agreement with sponsor and subject to change (based upon adverse weather, hours of operation, day of the week, attendance, size of the event, school schedules, amount of equipment in operation, staffing, etc.), and unforeseen cancellations. In the event of approved, overlapping events, work needs may cause workers to be adjusted. Work is performed outside in all weather.

Pay varies based on location of each worksite, $15.91 to $17.74 per hour. No overtime is expected, but if work necessitating OT occurs, it will be paid in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local laws. Employer reserves the option to provide additional compensation for performance/tenure or may increase wages based on changes in market conditions.

Travel required and provided to work in San Diego, Kern, Ventura, Fresno, Orange, and Los Angeles, Counties, CA; and Ramsey, MN. Must commute from home at prior worksite to next worksite. Work is performed outside in all weather. Travel provided to all events as per itinerary. Daily commuting not provided when traveling from employee’s home to prior worksite and/or to next worksite. Optional transportation to worksites provided at no cost to the worker.

Pay varies based on location of each worksite. No overtime is expected. Employer will make all deductions from worker’s
paycheck required by law. Employer’s optional shared housing is provided at no cost to the worker. Local convenience travel
valued at ($20/wk.), and food available for wage credit and/or deduction, or any lesser amount to the maximum extent not
prohibited by law. The employer may also make the following pay deductions, if worker elects: recovery of any loss to the
employer due to the worker's damage (beyond normal wear and tear) or loss of equipment where it is shown that the worker is
responsible, and any other reasonable deductions expressly authorized by the worker in writing. No deduction not required by
law will be made that brings the workers hourly earnings below the FLSA Federal statutory minimum wage, below the
California required state minimum wage of $16.90 per hour nor below the required state minimum wage for Minnesota.

Special Requirements

Post-employment criminal background check, post-employment and post-injury/incident drug testing required; cost paid by employer and applied equally to all workers, US and foreign/H-2B. Applicant must complete employment application. The job requires that the applicant be qualified, ready, willing, able, and available to perform during the entire employment at the designated worksites under adverse weather; to enter into and comply with employment contracts; to follow workplace rules; and to meet job performance standards. Must comply with grooming requirements and dress code. Must be willing to work up to 7 days/wk. Must be able to pass food service standards testing (training provided) ability to learn and follow safety standards with respect to equipment. Subject to discharge for cause. Applicants must cooperate with and complete job application and interview truthfully. Required uniform provided at no charge to the worker.
