Burley Tobacco: Duties including, but not limited to: greenhouse care, placement, mulching, greasing, cutting, housing, and stripping. Workers will receive training over a period of two days (14 hours), after which they will be expected to cut 100 sticks per hour (does not include dropping sticks in the field. Dark Cooking Tobacco: Duties including, but not limited to: greenhouse care, placement, mulching, greasing, cutting, housing, and stripping. Workers will be required to cut firewood and carry it to the barn to burn the tobacco. Wooden slabs covered with sawdust are placed under the hanging tobacco. in barn. Plates are baked to smoke the tobacco and it is repeated until the tobacco acquires the appropriate color. The worker will remove the remaining ashes after burning the tobacco. The worker is required to cut/puncture 50 to 60 sticks per hour. Air Cured Tobacco: Duties including but not limited to: greenhouse care, setting, mulching, greasing, cutting, housing and stripping. Other Related Duties for all types of tobacco: Workers may cut weeds between plants with a hoe; remove tips and shoots from plants, apply side dressing. The employer will train new workers in tobacco planting, cutting, lodging and destemming for a period of two days (14 business days). hours). A trained worker is expected to cut 100 bars per hour of burley tobacco and 50 to 60 bars per hour of dark tobacco.
Forage: Duties including, but not limited to: Soil preparation, operation of tillage equipment, cutting equipment, baling and bale loading. Transporting bales to storage barns/farms that purchase hay.
Planting, Cultivating, & Harvesting Row Crop: Duties to include, but not limited to: Workers may drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest and store grain crops such as corn, wheat, soybeans, etc. Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, combines, grain bin cleaning, and irrigation equipment. Attach farm implements such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor and drive tractor in field to till soil and plant / cultivate crop. Workers may also cultivate & harvest by hand. Perform variety of other duties such as husking and shelling corn, lubricating, and repairing farm machinery. Loading/unloading grain trucks, transfers gain through elevator grain system, clean out grain bins, elevator repair, unloads grain onto conveyors for storage in bins, operate machinery for cleaning of grain, cleaning grain bins, transferring grain from one bin to another clean bin, and maintenance on grain bins. Workers must be able to climb heights. Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities. Assist in set-up of product for sale of crop.
General Farm Duties: General farm maintenance and other tasks required in maintaining the agricultural operation. Includes, but is not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, repairing and maintaining agricultural vehicles, implements, tools and equipment, and other work directly related to the agricultural activities for which the worker is hired. Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping. Drive trucks to transport crops, supplies, tools or farm workers. Also includes repair of farm buildings, fences and other structures/barns. Such work will be offered when the weather or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above and only after the first week guarantee is met conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed above and only after the first week guarantee is met

Special Requirements

Physically able to bend, stoop, and able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Physically able to meet and perform all job specifications. May be required to take random drug and / or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. All testing and background check will occur after employment has started and is not a part of the interview process. May be required to submit a criminal background check, at no cost to the worker. Felony convictions that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers or other individuals on the farm will result in immediate termination. Failure to comply with request for criminal background check may result in immediate termination of employment.
