Job description

Outdoor work. Farming activities relating to rice planting, developing, maintaining, harvesting and production. Grain bin/grain elevator activities. Clean seed rice, removing everything from the rice (trash, hulls, etc.); fill packaging for shipping to be tested; load tested rice into treater. Work with agricultural chemicals, mixing and filling tanks for treatment; remove treated rice and load bulk trailers/planters. Load treated rice into planters and seed planes. Load fertilizer into crop planes and spray rigs. Daily clean and maintain/repair equipment/machinery, bins & buildings - shovel work. Clean/maintain entrance roads/ditches, worksite & housing. Helping to maintain/fill diesel tanks, tractors. Working most days in rice fields in direct sun; walking in mud/water with hot, humid environment; 100+ humid temps. Be able to lift up to 75 lbs when needed and climb ladders/heights. Must have min of 3 months experience in rice fields using hand tools, rakes, shovels, hoes, trailers, weed sacks; hand hoeing, grubbing, chopping, pulling weeds, farm/gardening all day. May be needed to operate tractors and other field machinery/equipment.

Special Requirements

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
