Job description
Under the direction of the supervisor, workers may perform any of the following tasks. Use of hand tools such as ladders,
clippers and picking bag and other mechanical equipment to complete assigned tasks efficiently for the purpose of harvesting
lemons and avocados. Applicants must have knowledge and understanding of harvesting techniques for lemons and
avocados. Applicant must be able to select fruit for proper size, color and maturity during harvest. Applicant must have
experience in separating fruit to obtain proper crop loads. Applicant must be able to walk, bend, stand and kneel for extended
periods as well as be able to lift 75 pounds and carry full picking bags which can be 60-65 pounds for (6) six hours. This is
outside work. It will be hot, cold, wet and muddy at times. Employer will furnish without cost all tools and equipment required to
perform duties assigned. Workers may not use cell phones for personal calls, emails or texts during work. Phone use is limited
to break times. Employer may conduct random drug tests after a worker begins employment at employers expense.
Lemon trees have varying amounts of fruit on the tree at different times of the year. The minimum picking standard is: The tree yields at least 2 picking bags which are 60#s each we require that the employee pick a minimum of 3 bins in a 8 hour work day. The majority for the year the yields will far exceed 2 bags/tree.
Special Requirements
The Employer may require post hire drug testing at the sole expense of the employer. Workers must not report for work, enter the work site or perform services while under the influence of or having used alcohol or any illegal or legally controlled substance that may in any way adversely affect their alertness, coordination, reaction response or safety of self, co-workers or product. The employer may require the worker to submit to a drug test at the employer's expense upon the occurrence of a reportable accident or upon legally recognized instances of reasonable suspicion.
