Job description

Seafood Processors will perform a variety of duties to prepare and process seafood. Duties may include, but are not limited to unloading, sorting, processing, cleaning, filleting, cutting, scraping, weighing, freezing, glazing, shelling, grading, packing, or packaging seafood. Processors may be asked to use knives, spoons, scales, or power equipment. Processors are expected to process seafood quickly with specific standards to ensure a high-quality product. Processors will assist in keeping their area clean and sterilized to adhere to strict quality assurance standards. Primary duties and responsibilities may include: Unload / ice raw fish from
vessels. Process seafood (clean) on conveyors or tables. Sort, weigh, and grade seafood. Fillet, cut, or trim seafood. Remove shellfish from shell. Tray and freeze seafood. Pack, weigh, or count packaged seafood. Glaze and package seafood into bags, boxes, or containers. Maintain the safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in assigned work area. Operate machines that may fillet, skin, grind, head, clean, or freeze seafood. Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas throughout the plant. Follow and uphold GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)

General schedule of 40h/w, work shifts of 7:00am to 3:00pm or 7:00pm to 3:00am, workdays vary Sun-Sat. Overtime availability depends upon fish supply. The length of workdays and amount of overtime greatly varies. Workload depends upon fish sources. Fish need to be urgently processed in order to maintain quality and safety standards. During a strong run, workers may be required to work 12 hours for up to 7 days a week. A general shift for day shift is 7am to 3pm, and night crew 7pm - 3am or 5pm - 1am. During a strong fish run, shifts may run from 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am.
