Job description

Ranch work. On horseback & foot, incl. but not limited to herding, sorting, calving, castrating, branding, horn tipping, vaccinating, AI, Record keeping, feeding. Unloading & loading grain & hay. Controlling predators. Checking & maintaining livestock & pastures, water lines, roads, & fencing. Cut & clear brush. Horse/livestock care incl. but not limited to stall cleaning, feeding, shoeing, training, foaling. Clean & repair tack & braiding. Heavy workload during seasonal breeding, calving, foaling, working cattle, training colts, & during drought or other excessive weather conditions. Must be able to lift 50# frequently. Workers work predominantly (90+%) on range activities which include working cattle, herd management, checking health, changing pastures, etc. on range NOT near headquarters and are required to be available 24 hours/day, 7 days per week.

OPEN RANGE
Employees will be provided with all tools, supplies, & equipment (without charge) as required by law incl. cell phones (at no charge or deposit).

Electronic communication: Cell phone service is very good throughout the ranch and workers will be contacted at least once/day (mid-day) to verify well-being. Workers will also be checked on/accounted for when they return to housing at night.

Special Requirements

Must be able to ride, handle, & care for horses & work cattle from horseback in a manner to assure safety of worker, co-workers & livestock. Must have basic working ability with fence tools & other ranch implements. Must be reliable to perform assigned tasks capably & efficiently without close supervision. Absences and/or failure to perform required duties not tolerated. Must be willing & able to lift 50#. Must be willing & able to work alone or in small groups in isolated areas. Work involves ranch animals, vehicles, machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (hot, cold, wet, etc) & risk of poisonous snakes, rocky terrain, storms, flash floods, brush fires. NO family, pets/animals with regard to housing. 3 months experience (references required). May be required to take post hire random drug and/or alcohol tests, at no cost to worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination.
