Job description
Sous Chefs are responsible for monitoring sanitation and food safety practices to ensure that all employees follow strict company standards and government regulations, checking the quality of raw and cooked food products daily to ensure that the highest standards are met, determining production schedules and staffing requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services and optimal labor cost, ordering and receiving produce and kitchen items, receiving and checking quantity and quality of all received products including dry goods, setting accurate par levels and adjust based on levels of business, taking daily, weekly, and monthly inventories, training new employees, executing seamlessly all stations in the kitchen during service as well as preparations of sauces and proteins, and assisting the Executive Chef in hiring, interviewing, supervising, and coordinating activities of Cooks or other workers engaged in food preparation, stewarding and receiving, opening and/or closing of the entire restaurant including checking opening and or closing side works, uniform checks, writing opening and closing report and documenting any violations of the company's standard operating procedures.
Special Requirements
Days and shift schedules may vary. Holidays, weekends, and evenings required as needed.
Employer is offering opportunity for up to 15 hours of overtime per week, however this is not guaranteed
Employer reserves the right to increase wage, rate, or bonus to any worker based on skill, tenure, performance, or experience.
Workers must be at least 18 years of age.
The Petitioner will consider for employment any applicant who possesses at least thirty-six (36) months of culinary experience in a fine-dining environment at a high-end or high-volume restaurant, resort, or private club.
Applicant must complete pre-employment background check and drug screening at employer's expense.
Applicant will also be required to complete paid on the job training. Please note that while materials are available online for training, reviewing these training materials is not mandatory outside of work hours as on-the-job training is provided.
Employer will provide each employee with one (1) uniform chef coat and one (1) hat for Sous Chef and Cook at no cost to the employee. Employees are required to report to work wearing clean, serviceable black shoes, black pants, black socks, and a plain white T-shirt. These items are considered standard, everyday clothing and must be provided by the employee and expectation to be 100% compliant with the Company Grooming and Uniform Policy.
Workers are required to speak conversational English.
