Job description
The seasonal agricultural worker will prepare fields for planting; attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools; and operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, combines, irrigation equipment, and other farm machinery. Duties will include planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, and harvesting crops; fertilizing and applying pesticide solutions using hand sprayers to control insects, fungus, weeds, and crop diseases; loading and unloading crops and materials manually or using conveyors, forklifts, transfer augers, or hand trucks; loading hoppers, containers, and conveyors with agricultural products using forklifts, augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks; and transporting harvested grain to market using farm trucks and wagons. Workers will observe and listen to machinery during operation to identify malfunctions and perform routine inspections, adjustments, maintenance, and repairs on farm equipment and vehicles. Workers will record agricultural data as required; clean and maintain work areas, equipment, facilities, and farm grounds; perform snow removal as needed; and conduct routine maintenance and repairs on barns, sheds, grain bins, fences, and other farm structures. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion, Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
The employer will conduct post-hire drug testing at no cost to the employee in accordance with its drug-free workplace policy. A failed drug test may result in termination of employment, consistent with applicable law. The employer will conduct post-hire criminal background checks at no cost to the employee and, consistent with applicable law and company hiring practices, will not employ individuals with felony or theft-related criminal convictions. The job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures and extensive sitting and walking. Workers must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and must possess a valid regular drivers license.
