Job description

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Applicants are required to have verifiable hands on agricultural field work experience so they are able to perform, evaluate and demonstrate agricultural work within this job description and provide references verifying a minimum six (6) months of working in farm management, human resources or related fields. Must have knowledge of agricultural practices and requirements to demonstrate such and be able to read English and Spanish and be able communicate orally and in writing in Spanish and English sufficiently to communicate effectively with farmers and non-English-speaking farmworkers.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Working on all NCGA jointly employed certified grower members farms, workers will perform agricultural work within the job description and requirements to demonstrate to other agricultural workers the job requirements, needed agricultural techniques and processes and all related duties of their job. Please see attachment. Must have working practical knowledge of all crops grown by NCGA grower members to be able to demonstrate and explain necessary agricultural techniques and processes, including identification of requirements for correction of errors, avoidance of poor agricultural practices, and work in accordance with good and safe agricultural practices. Workers will orally explain job duties and other provisions of work contract as well as demonstrate such requirements and interact with growers and other workers in connection with the performance of agricultural work under this job description. Workers will use their bilingual (English/Spanish) skills on the farms to explain job requirements and will assist in distributing and disseminating work-related information orally and in writing regarding employment benefits, requirements and standards. On the respective members farms, workers will assist grower and workers in mediating and resolving on the job problems and differences and misunderstandings. Workers will assist other workers and growers in connection with completion of Federally required forms as well as NCGA forms related to the agricultural work and job in this job description and will complete and maintain records of work and related on-farm problem resolution and open issues in accordance with supervisors instructions. Will assist with supervision and evaluation of agricultural work performance on NCGA grower members farms with authority, along with grower and supervisor, to issue corrective warnings as to adequacy of agricultural work performance and related performance and compliance with job requirements of other agricultural workers, drawing on the workers own knowledge of and experience with agricultural work requirements,practices, potential problems, appreciation of consequences of poor agricultural practices and related knowledge, including bilingual ability to communicate in these areas. May in consultation with grower member and supervisor recommend or otherwise agree to termination of worker. In connection with performance of work within this job description, worker must be able to lift up to 60 pounds throughout the entire work day.
