Job description
Job requires the operation of farm equipment including, but not limited to, tractors with various implements, equipment with GPS guidance systems, cultivators, PTO ditchers, backhoes, excavators, mowers, turn row drags, hipper choppers, rollers, mulch finishers, plows, sprayers, grain trucks, grain carts, and combines to till soil; prepare fields; and plant, irrigate, fertilize, cultivate, spray, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Job will also include attaching various implements to tractors and equipment; performing maintenance and service of farm equipment when required; cleaning and maintaining farm grounds and shop areas; cleaning and performing upkeep around irrigation wells; performing minor mechanical repair and maintenance on farm vehicles when necessary; working with irrigation equipment including irrigation pipe and well motors; puncturing irrigation pipe at set intervals; removing irrigation pipe from fields; servicing irrigation motors; welding; mixing, handling, and applying various chemicals to crops; monitoring water levels in fields to ensure proper growing conditions are maintained; using hand tools in fields to maintain field conditions and remove undesirable plant varieties; loading and unloading trucks using grain conveying equipment; greasing and replacing bearings and belts around the grain bin site; climbing vertical ladders; entering grain bins to check moisture levels of stored grain; writing elevator tickets. Daily duties may vary. Pay increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience or merit.
Special Requirements
Job requires having, or being able to obtain, a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Criminal background checks and drug screening may be possible post-hire at the employer's expense. The employer may terminate the worker (foreign or domestic) if the employer discovers a criminal conviction record of assault or theft or status as a registered sex offender that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers. Job duties will require workers to be outdoors during periods when temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Job may require periods when workers will push, pull, sit, walk, stoop, bend over, or perform repetitive movements.
