Job description
Workers needed to clean plant-wide in Environmental Zone 3 (areas in exposed product rooms that are away from product contact surfaces; walls, sinks, forklifts, etc.) and Environmental Zone 4 (areas outside of rooms where there is exposed products; warehousing, racks, floors, walls, etc.), and plant floors and drains. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. All work is done in accordance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and Master Sanitation Schedule.
Under direct supervision, workers will clean clean in Environmental Zone 1 (food contact surfaces, belts, elevators, shakers, etc.) and Zone 2 (areas immediately adjacent to food contact surfaces; framework, aprons, items directly over food contact areas, etc.) in pre-blanch areas only.
Operate chemical dispensing equipment, sanitation equipment, machinery controls, and various tools. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer’s products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.
Employer-paid post-hire drug testing is required upon reasonable suspicion of use and after a worker has an accident at work. Employer requires all newly hired employees to take and pass an employer-paid background check. All background checks are conducted uniformly after an initial job offer has been extended and accepted by the new hire. Applicants found to have felony convictions (including, but not limited to assault, child molestation, sex or drug-related convictions) will be immediately terminated out of concern for general public safety, and paid for all hours worked between the first date of employment and the date of termination, if any. In the case of a non-local worker who is terminated for cause resulting from findings of the background check, the employer will arrange least-cost transportation to the worker's place of recruitment, at the worker's expense.
Workers may not leave the job assignment area without authorization. Leaving job area or farm without permission will be considered to be a voluntary resignation.
Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer.
Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
The employer may offer 3 shifts per 24 hours with a half hour unpaid lunch break Monday through Sunday:
(Shift 1) 6:00 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday - Sunday
(Shift 2) 6:45 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Monday - Sunday
(Shift 3) 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday – Sunday
Each worker will be assigned to a shift. Exact shift times may vary. Workers will be offered alternating days off.
TERMINATION. All workers will be subject to a five-day trial period, during which the employer will evaluate workers' performance of required tasks.
Special Requirements
This job requires a minimum of 3 months of experience working in a manufacturing setting and/or experience with sanitation practices and equipment in a food manufacturing setting. Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Workers must be able to perform manual and mechanized tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Saturday work required. Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing required. Criminal background check required.
