Job description
Manually seed, plant, transplant, cultivate, & harvest vegetables including but not limited to: tomatoes, peppers, squash & watermelon. Use hand tools, such as trowels. shovels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, knives & post drivers. Duties include field preparations by tilling soil, applying fertilizers, mulching, plastic application & removal, transplanting, weeding, thinning, and pruning of crops on the field and/or in the greenhouse. Operation of tractors, tractor-drawn equipment & self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow & fertilize or to plant, cultivate, spray or harvest crops. Repair & maintain, including cleaning & sanitizing, of farm vehicles, farm equipment, and mechanical equipment used in harvesting, sorting, packing, washing, & storage of produce. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings and maintenance of field drainage and irrigation systems. Set up & operate irrigation equipment and participate in irrigation activities. Harvest vegetables by hand and machine. Clean, grade, wash, & pack produce grown on the farm. Inform owners and farm managers of crop progress. Work requires standing, sitting, kneeling and lifting up to 75 lbs. on a consistent basis throughout the day. While working in the field, cell phone usage is limited to emergency use only. Employer may conduct/require random drug or alcohol tests at employers expense after hiring. Due to health & safety concerns on our farm workers must understand basic instruction in English. Workers referred as a result of this order must have a minimum of three months of verifiable experience in performing the tasks described in his order.
Special Requirements
The employer will not guarantee to pay the workers a bonus but reserves the right, at the employers sole discretion, to offer a bonus or to pay an hourly wage rate in excess of the highest applicable rate stated above based on longevity of tenure or exceptional job performance.
