Job description
Drivers will pick up, haul, and drop off landscaping material from vendor locations to various landscaping worksites, such as gravel, sand, loam, grass, screens, mulch, plants, and trees. Drivers will also pick up, haul, and drop off waste materials such as dirt, rocks, mulch, trees, branches, wood and concrete from landscaping and construction worksites sites to a landfill. Drivers will secure cargo by using wraps, straps, tents, ropes, or covers and inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure by following appropriate safety procedures. Drivers will maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Drivers will maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status. Drivers must ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment in is good working order. Drivers must maintain a clean vehicle interior and wash exterior on a weekly basis. Drivers must be able to use GPS or other navigation device and travel to indicated locations for pick up or drop off and take the most economical routes. At the end of each day, drivers must turn in to the office all pick up and drop off confirmation receipts from vendors and landfill for proper record keeping.
Special Requirements
CDL required or foreign equivalent of CDL.
Three (3) months of related experience. Must be able to lift and carry 80 lbs. Must pass a post-employment drug test and background check per DOL requirements for CDL drivers. Drug test and background check are paid for by employer.
