Job description

Job duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain a cow/calf operation; hay and feed cattle; water cattle and maintain water tanks; routine and urgent care for livestock; monitor the herd for signs of illness or injury; assist with breeding; assist with calving; administer vaccinations and medications; build temporary fences; routine maintenance and repair of both permanent and temporary fences; basic vehicle, trailer, and equipment maintenance.

Work hours are determined by livestock and weather conditions. The work day may begin/end earlier or later on any given day and evening, night hours may be required. Workers may be requested but not required to work additional hours, weekends, holidays, and the Sabbath depending on crop conditions and need.

At the sole discretion of the employer, drug and alcohol testing may be conducted post-hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. Workers may be subject to mandatory drug testing if they have been involved in a reportable accident or upon reasonable suspicion that drug use may be impacting job performance. Any drug test will be conducted at the employer's expense. All drug testing will be conducted post-hire.

Only workers may occupy the housing unless other arrangements have been made with the employer. Workers must vacate the housing promptly at the end of the contract or upon termination.

Any worker found to have a criminal conviction, DWI, commits serious acts of misconduct, refuses to follow instructions, violates work rules, fails to perform job duties in a competent manner, or other lawful job-related reasons will be terminated.

Workers must be physically able to perform all job duties safely, quickly, and skillfully.

Workers who have a clean driving record and insurable driver's license may be required to drive company vehicles

All employees are covered by workers compensation insurance in accordance with Texas law. This insurance provides payment of medical benefits and time loss payments to a worker who is accidentally injured on the job. Employer assures that its workers' compensation policy will remain valid throughout the contract period.

Special Requirements

Workers who have a clean motor vehicle record and are able to obtain a valid driver's license may be asked to transport workers or cattle owned by Runway Livestock, LLC.
