Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by the supervisor. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Minimum of 3 months experience required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30-90 days of hire. Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will be required to operate farm implements such as Case or Caterpillar tractors for purposes of tillage and planting during the spring planting season. Workers will also be required to operate the necessary chemical applicating equipment in order to maintain and prevent weeds and pests throughout the growing season. They will also be required to operate implements such as Case and Caterpillar tractors with the necessary farm implements (i.e., grain cart) during the fall harvest season. Workers will also be responsible for driving semi-trucks with hopper trailers for transporting grain to elevators, maneuvering grain cart attachments, as well as basic knowledge of farm implement maintenance. During the summer months, day-to-day responsibilities will include manual labor as required to install and maintain irrigation systems (i.e. poly pipe, levee gates, etc.), miscellaneous duties in and around the shop, including but not limited to small tool work, torch welding, machinery repair, and other daily maintenance. Must be able to lift 75lbs. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. Deductions will be taken for lost tools, misuse causing damage, and destruction of tools and equipment. Vehicles must be kept clean and deductions will be made for necessary cleaning, damage due to misuse, and reckless operations. General Specifications and Physical Requirements of the Job Work requires repetitive movements, and the majority of time is spent on ones feet. Workers should be able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations. Proper work attire is required. No personal cell phone usage on the job. Cell phone use should be limited to contact with the supervisor and other employees as necessary to perform job duties. After worker has completed 50% of the work contract period, employer will reimburse worker for the cost of transportation to the place of recruitment. Upon arrival to the place of employment, workers who provide receipts for meals and non-alcoholic beverages in excess of $14.00 will be reimbursed during the first pay period, up to the maximum of $59.00 per 24-hour period of travel from the place of recruitment to the place of employment (if it is the prevailing practice). Due to subsequent employment with another employer who agrees to pay such costs, in which the employer will only pay for the transportation and subsistence to the next job. The amount of the transportation payment will be equal to the most economical and reasonably similar common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. The employer will not be responsible for providing the cost of return transportation and subsistence from the place of employment to the place of recruitment if the worker voluntarily abandons the job or is terminated for just cause. Free transportation will be provided from the housing location to the worksite and returned each day. No use of beer or liquor is permitted during work time or during any workday before work is completed for the day (such as during meals); workers may not report for work under the influence of beer, liquor or illegal drugs, which includes abuse of prescription drugs prescribed for either the worker or for another person.
