Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by the supervisor. Applicants must be 25 years or older. Minimum of 1 year experience required. Must be able to obtain a driver’s license within 30 – 90 days of hire. The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants at the employer’s expense. Duties may vary from time to time. Workers will be required to perform routine maintenance and major engine overhauls. Workers will examine and listen to machines, motors, gasoline and diesel engines, and equipment for operational defects. Workers will dismantle defective units using hand tools. Repairs or replaces defective parts using hand tools and shop tools. Workers will replace components, such as carburetors, fuel pumps, generators, ignition points, and spark plugs. Reassembles, adjusts, and lubricates machines and equipment to ensure efficient operation. May install, repair, and wiring of motors to maintain electrical system. May assemble and erect new farm machinery and equipment. Workers will drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, and store grain crops. Attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, and drill to tractor. Till soil; plant and cultivate grain. Drive and operate self-propelled combine. Perform a variety of duties such as driving grain trucks to transport crops to elevator or storage area. Must be able to lift 75 – 100 lbs. Workers will also haul rice, corn, and soybeans. Workers will do pre-harvest grain bin maintenance. Duties will be to inspect inside of bin. Workers will check for birds’ nests, cracked belts, rough sounds in the motor, and any divots in the track. Inspect outside of bins, making sure the door is sealing properly with no visible gaps. Inspect ladders and steps for loose bolts, broken ladder rungs, and clear them of all obstructions. Workers will also inspect fan and heater. Workers will be responsible for doing repairs on machinery, operating of grain bin facilities, and driving semis delivering grain to the local mills and grain terminals. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the workers. OFLC Administrator publishes new AEWR rates yearly and we reserve the right to adjust our job order to the new published rate with the exception of decrease . Raises and bonuses may be offered to any seasonal worker, at the employer’s discretion, based on individual factors including but not limited to, performance, experience, number of hours worked in the season, number of seasons worked with the company, adherence to work rules and ability to follow supervisor’s instructions.
Special Requirements
The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements. Workers must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performed their required job duties. We will provide cell phones for the worker if they do not have one, to be able to contact them when needed. If they have one, we will reimburse them for cost while on the job. However, we do not want them to let the cell phone hinder their work or distract them from doing their duties while at work. Workers should expect periods of little/no work during growing time.
