Job description
Receive, check quality and store delivery of beef, pork, lamb, veal, fish, poultry and specialty items that are popular in the Mexican culture, such as chorizo. Break down parts of the animal into cuts, such as shoulder, rib, loin, and leg by cutting, boning, fat trimming, and portioning large cuts of meat to specifications using meat processing equipment. Cut, grind, pack and prepare consumer-sized meat products for presentation, display and sale to retail customers. Sharpen knives and adjust cutting equipment. Wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat. Utilize meat processing equipment, such as boning hooks, cleavers, knives, meat and bone band saws, cutting boards, and scales. Provide courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers, explain products, take orders and provide recommendations. Package and freeze cuts of meat. Monitors food inventory to assist in preventing spoilage. Maintain all work areas clean and sanitized, including the knives, cutting boards, and equipment. Immediately reports safety hazards, faulty equipment and slippery floor conditions.
Special Requirements
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to speak Spanish, as many customers do not speak English. Employer will provide training. Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
