Job description
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Following supervisors instruction, workers will plant, harvest, load, and grade tomatoes. The worker will require use of hand tools such as shears and knives. Workers must be comfortable using farm equipment and tools including a tractor. This work can require standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting up to 60 pounds for long periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions. Workers will have the ability to work quickly and consistently alongside fellow workers with a positive, professional, team-based attitude and a consideration for the safety and health of fellow workers and of the consumers who will purchase and consume the fresh produce grown. Workers will remove weeds by hand, or a hoe to walk-way and remove all weeds growing around plants. General Farm Work and irrigation: Tasks the worker must be able to perform include: field cleanup, field stone removal. Setting, removing and maintaining irrigation material and equipment. Workers will perform general farm labor cleaning, maintaining and repairing farm equipment and buildings. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such workers willful damage or destruction of the tools. No use or possession of beer, liquor or illegal drugs is permitted during work time or during any workday before work is completed for the day (such as during meals); workers may not report for work under the influence of beer, liquor, illegal drugs, or with symptoms that occur because of over drinking or drug use. Employees may be terminated for excessive use of alcohol, drunk and/or disorderly conduct in housing after hours.
